Meisa Kuroki played 1st solo show

Meisa Kuroki played her first solo shows at Ebisu Garden Hall on October 6th and 7th. Her “1st solo live ATTITUDE 2010” was originally set to be one show, but another date was added as the tickets were sold out in just one day. She performed 15 songs including her third single “LOL!” which went on sale on Oct. 6th, and she announced from the stage that her new album would be released in January next year.

SAW 3D soundtrack

The official soundtrack for “SAW 3D: The Final Chapter” will be released on October 26th. The compilation album features exclusive and new tracks from various artists such as Dead By Sunrise (featuring Chester Bennington from Linkin Park), Saving Abel and Saliva. The lineup also includes some Japanese acts: WAGDUG FUTURISTIC UNITY (featuring Kyono from The Mad Capsule Markets), Boom Boom Satellites and Dir En Grey. The soundtrack comes out before the film, which will hit theaters on Oct. 30th.

SCANDAL wraps up tour

SCANDAL wrapped up their “SCANDAL TEMPTATION BOX TOUR 2010” on October 2nd. The final show took place at Zepp Tokyo: it was reported that the tickets for the night went sold out within one minute. On Oct. 6th, they are going to release a new single “Scandal nanka buttobase” written by Yoko Aki and Ryudo Ozaki, who are known for creating lots of hit songs over the ages.

Crystal Kay’s new single

Crystal Kay is going to release a new single “Journey~kimi to hutari de” on November 24th. The song will be featured in a TV commercial for Attenir cosmetics, which is going on air on October 6th. It was also announced that she will begin a big national tour in February next year.

Utada on Twitter

Utada opened her Twitter account on Sep. 28th, and the number of followers is increasing rapidly and reaching 50,000 in just 2 days. It is for a limited time only, but as soon as she announced that she started Twitter in her blog, her fans jumped at it to follow her. Her album “Utada Hikaru SINGLE COLLECTION VOL.2” will be released on Nov. 24th.

Utada sings in French

Utada shot a TV commercial for the first time in five years. It is for Pepsi NEX’s popular CM series where Japanese artists sing various international hit songs, and Utada sings a Jazz version of “Hymne a l’amour” by Edith Piaf in French. She is going on hiatus next year and just announced that she’d be playing her “last live” at Yokohama arena on December 8th and 9th.

Asia Song Festival

AKB48 will be performing at upcoming Asia Song Festival in Seoul. Asia Song Festival, started in 2004, is one of the most famous pop music festivals in Asia,  featuring top artists from Asian countries. This year, it will be held at Seoul Olympic Stadium on October 23rd, and the lineup includes KARA,BoA, 2AM and Rain from South Korea, FILM from Thailand, Jane Zhang from China, and Michael Wong from Malaysia.

Nana’s first photo book

Nana Tanimura is going to release her first photo book on October 15th. The photo book, simply titled “Nana”,  is a collection of pictures taken by Kouki Nishida. To celebrate the release, Nana will appear at the special event at Fukuya-shoten bookstore in Ginza on October 10th.

CUPNOODLE 39! EXPO, the special event celebrating the 39th anniversary of Nissin’s Cupnoodle, was held at Roppongi Hills from Sep.18th to 20th. On the last day, TOKYO-FM radio station had a live broadcast at the site, featuring GLAY, Ayumi Nakamura and Gospellers as musical guests. The members of GLAY were supposed to be there only for a talk show, but they gave the audience a nice surprise  by playing their new song “Precious” live.

Utada’s single collection

Utada will release her second single collection album in November.  “Utada Hikaru SINGLE COLLECTION VOL2“, going on sale on November 24th, will have her hit singles since 2004, and it is also reported that it will have 4 or 5 new songs as well. Utada has announced that she would go on hiatus next year and this might be her last release before that.
